DAILY MEAL
Though we love watching The Food Network's "Chopped," we're definitely not professionals. In fact, we're merely trying not to drop our fingers off. We don't have the usual Pro-Tips offered on Cooking Blogs, but instead you'll read about our endeavors through trial and error.
I LOVE AVOCADOS! They should be their own food group. Their versatility. They're delectable. Fresh, raw, fried, or combined in a dish. It doesn't matter. They're simply delicious. So really, why not list the best ways to eat, enjoy, and share avocados with your friends. With a little help from my friends over at Pinterest, I'm sharing my favorites ways to enjoy an avocado!
Business travel seems to be an inevitable part of my life. And with that, I feel like shortly after follows the inevitable weight gain. I’m trying to find a way to stop this vicious cycle. This trip, I’ve been traveling alone, so I’ve put a few roadblocks in place to help stop the bleeding.
This Halloween was our first in the new house, and our first time entertaining trick-or-treaters. We spent the evening on the porch with a few friends, plenty of adult beverages and our dog, Gibbs, who handled the influx of masked strangers with considerable poise.
With every batch of youngsters peddling jokes (that's a thing here in StL -- kids tell you a joke or ask you a riddle in exchange for candy) there was at least one very patient parent, braced for an impending sugar high and inevitable crash. To show the chaperones a little love, we recommend mixing up one of the following two recipes. Give these guys to the guardians in dixie cups, along with candy for the kiddos, and you're sure to be a fast neighborhood favorite.
Everytime I go to make a casserole or other baked dish, I'm reminded once again why they are great friends to someone with a crazy travel schedule. If I can freeze it and it tastes as good later, that baked dish is a bro for life.
If you didn't know what you were walking into when you enter my friend's new bar, your head might explode with all the decor and happenings. But really, it's a tribute to one of his favorite places: the ruins pubs of Budapest. It's based upon how entrepreneurs in Budapest would take old, "ruined" buildings and transform them into great pubs.
Hello again. Hoping everyone had a most excellent long weekend, full of porch sitting and potent beverage-drinking. Now that we've made it back from the Texas shore -- and made it through the end of last week -- I figured I'd hit y'all back with the nibbles we served at last weekend's Sip & See.
We went for a casual Southern theme of finger foods (the best for eating whilst holding children) that were also kid-friendly. (So more hot-dog, less cucumber sandwich.) I've linked to recipes for everything, and I tried all of it because poison-testing. A++ would do again.
Never heard of it? I hadn't either, but long days at work made me come up with another creative way to use the easiest cooking device known to mankind: the crockpot! I adapted this recipe from one on The Comfort of Cooking's website, but didn't have all the ingredients (per usual.) Let the substitutions begin!
In honor of Cinco de Mayo, this week, I'm sharing my new favorite and super simple dip. QUESO FLAMEADO! We made it this weekend in honor of our #CincoDeMays blow-out, but I really think it's wonderful for any occasion. In fact, I may have an addiction. Like, seriously. I've bought my own cast iron pan just so I can make it again this weekend.

As a long-displaced Texan (first in New Orleans, and now in St. Louis, MO) the area most lacking in my life is access to authentic Tex-Mex.
Scotty says if we can get 100 likes, then he will put GRITS on the new Brunch menu at Ruin's Pub. LET'S MAKE THIS HAPPEN.
