Celebrating A Future of Domestic Bliss

Stumbling through Pinterest, tasked with planning my future sister-in-law's bridal shower, I knew a pink and floral soiree wouldn't suit. Nor would a Disney theme, a fairy tale, any mention of prince charming or basically anything too lovey-dovey.

So when I happened upon the idea of a "retro" shower, I wondered if it could be just ironic enough to fit the bill.

Some context: About a year and a half ago, my brother had to move to New Orleans for work. Caroline quit her job to follow. Unfortunately, the eating, drinking, and exploring didn't seem to pay the bills. Her new fiance thought she should get a job.   And although this idea was thought up before she became re-employed, I wasn't going to let a little detail like employment stop me, so the planning commenced!

Taking a cue from our already slightly non-traditional shower, we forwent the typical games in favor of reading a little helpful marital advice from a book entitled The Good Wife. Let’s just say it's not as progressive as the TV show. The advice may have been a little (a lot) antiquated, but it did provide a few laughs! I highly suggest picking up a copy and making a game out of reading it with a straight face.
