Changing your legal name upon marriage is a royal pain in the arse. It involves a lot of paperwork and a LOT of time in various government offices, where things move at a glacial pace and people manage to be so grumpy upon arrival that I have never braved such offices past noon.
I didn't even begin changing my name until nearly after a year after we got married, putting it off for vacations abroad (afraid that a replacement passport might not arrive in time) and later to complete the purchase of our first home without any unnecessary upheaval.
But after finally obtaining a new social security card, passport, TWO new Missouri driver's licenses (a story in itself), and a wallet full of credit cards, nothing prepared me for the circuitous nonsense that was updating my airlines rewards.
I'm hoping to minimize the hold times, transfers -- often to no more knowledgeable rep -- and dropped calls by sharing here the direct contact to update your name with Southwest Rapid Rewards.
You'll need:
-Government-issued ID with your maiden or original name
-Government-issued ID with your married or updated name
-Your Rapid Rewards Number
-Your current contact information (which, for the sake of continuity, should match the contact info on your Rapid Rewards Account.)
Here is where it gets less intuitive. Disregard any customer service phone numbers or email addresses you find online that are associated with either Southwest or its Rapid Rewards program. Instead, send the above to:

I don't know. I don't think They even know. But it works. Now get that sh*t together.
