Well, I'm back from a weeks-long hiatus which I am choosing to blame on three consecutive out-of-state weddings. (Worth it: See exhibits A, B, and C.)
Our streak began the last weekend in August -- still in the heat of summer -- and by the time our whirlwind wedding tour had come to a close, it was unmistakably Fall. There's a crispness to the air, decorative gourds at the office, and, of course, pumpkin spice has once again made its indefatigable comeback.
We moved to St. Louis in February of this year, and although I caught the tail-end of winter I find myself completely unprepared, wardrobe-wise. I spent the entirety of those early weeks decked in Under Armour, over-sized college-era fleeces and snow boots, which hardly seems office-appropriate.
So, I'm welcoming the season by expanding the seasonal wardrobe. First up, suede chukkas, like the ones I saw on some effortlessly chic girl at my coffee shop last week. I plan to shamelessly imitate and recycle her look -- sheer tights, chukkas, and a short shirtdress topped with a military-style field jacket -- for the next four months. (Death to Han Solo season!)
The new fall uni (per my edict):
There were plenty of low-heeled and wedge options (a favorite being these from Ralph Lauren) but I wound up with these, by Cyra Catelyn, for the sake of practicality.
